FORTY EIGHT

FORTY EIGHT

I’m thinking I’ll keep track of the days until the mid-term elections. As of today we’ve got forty eight days. On Tuesday 3 November people will vote to decide who controls the United States Congress. I believe this is the most important election of my lifetime. Sadly, I won’t be voting because I’m a convicted felon. As you know, those of us convicted of a felony lose our right to vote. I’m one of those. It’s true. No, it’s not true. I only ever pretended to be a convicted felon. I’d say it to certain people I encountered standing out front of Safeway. They’d be wagging a clipboard. They’d ask me am I a registered voter. I’d say sorry I can’t vote cuz I’m a convicted felon. They’d give me a look like I’m a crippled dog. It was beautiful. But now the situation is different. These are different times. Times that try men’s souls, as old Thomas Paine once said. Do I have an excuse now for not voting in the mid-term elections? No. I most emphatically do not. I’m a citizen. I have a duty to cast my vote. I’m not a wild eyed socialist Alien hell bent on stealing our election. I’m certainly not a convicted felon. Donald Trump on the other hand is a convicted felon. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t he convicted of 33 felonies? I think he was. And doesn’t this mean he loses his right to vote? Sadly, it does not.

Under Florida law, an out-of-state felony conviction blocks someone from voting in Florida if it would block them from voting in the state where they were convicted. That means we must look to New York law for the answer: It says that a convicted felon can vote if they are not incarcerated. Trump is not incarcerated. Therefore, he can vote in Florida. Ask Jordon

There you have it. The big fat weasel currently running our country can vote. And he’ll be voting by mail….

On that note…

Trump aint doing too good lately. He keeps failing. One category where he keeps failing is his election suppression schemes. He tried redistricting. But Democratic governors jumped on the bandwagon and now it’s pretty much a wash. He tried the Save America Act but Republican Senators refused to dump the filibuster. He tried to restrict mail-in voting but the Postal Worker Union cried foul and the Supreme Court said no dice. He keeps trying. My buddy Rel says he plans to use ICE thugs to intimidate voters. I can see that happening. Others can see that happening too, which is why masses of concerned citizens are volunteering to poll watch. What’s he gonna do next, declare a national emergency and shut down the election? I almost want to see that happen. I mean, I’m no convicted felon but I have this twisted urge to see the real shit hit the fan. I’m talking wild in the streets shit. I frankly don’t think Trump has the balls to shut down the election. He’s got his hands full keeping his act together. Shits been going south for him pretty much everywhere. The war he started wont end. His Tariffs are tanking the Bond market. They won’t let him put his name on shit. People across the land are looking at the dude for what he is…a loser. But you know what? He’s still a nasty ass son of a bitch. He’s still working hard to make our lives miserable. It’s what he loves to do. That, and golf…

You can’t count him out.

BY THE WAY…say you want to be one of those poll watchers I just mentioned? The outfit you want to get ahold of is called The New Battlefield Project. Check them out. I’m thinking I might check them out. Offer myself as a volunteer. I got no money and I got no energy for volunteering. I’m not a joiner. Plus, I live in a blue state. Still, I feel this urge to do something besides this LOGGING that used to be BLOGGING. I feel an urge to do my part to defend our embattled Democracy. I have this urge to do good…in spite of the fact I’m a convicted Felon. Did I tell you I was only pretending I’m a convicted felon? Yeah, that’s right. I was only pretending…
