Bright Work
Kona Dave is lounging at his Kona Farm. The Kona Zona Resort. He’s kicking back. Eating Thanksgiving dinner on the beach. He’s like the Godfather. Nobody fucks with him. He’s been reading my Blog. He’s a Boomer like the rest of us.
Kona Dave. He don’t put up with Bullshit. He thinks Scruffy’s brightwork looks bad.
Yeah…
I don’t want to piss him off.
So I gotta get to work. Otherwise I’m a dead man.
I’ve been working on the bright work.
Bright Work
My back deck leaks rainwater on my pillow.
I caulked the seams and applied one coat of varnish.
Looks better but still leaks rainwater on my pillow.
Another seven coats of varnish. Maybe it wont leak on my pillow.
Old Scruffy’s got lots of wood on her.
The old boy has a fiber glass hull but they tacked her decks with teak wood. Screwed the wood in place. Hundreds and hundreds of screws. Thousands. They leak. I could rip them out and laminate the decks with fiber glass. But that would require money and ambition.
I’m the Gloomy Boomer. I’m just trying to plug that leak. I figure if I lay down enough coats of varnish where it counts (above my pillow) and tarp the other decks, I’ll make it through the winter.
Maybe I should trade Scruffy for an R/V…
